Interesting Comments from our Participants
My favorite part was spending the night at the orphanages and getting to know the kids but it was hard because we didn't speak the same language. At one orphanage we spent two nights and slept in the same rooms as the orphanage kids but their beds were very hard. We ate all our meals with them. They ate green vegetables and rice for every meal except once they had noodles instead of rice. It was interesting to see what their life was like.
Thailand is a pretty country and the people are very friendly. I liked our fun days at the end of the trip when we stayed at the beach and went snorkeling and saw lots of interesting sea creatures. And I liked watching the elephants at the elephant park play soccer, especially when one made a goal.
Hey, my name is Matt and I live in Mexico. My parents are missionaries there. I was able to go on the Honduras trip with A Touch of Hope. It was awesome and I got to be the missionary this time and not just the Missionary Kid. I got to be with kids that were really awesome. We played more soccer in 8 days than I had played in a month and it was so much fun. More importantly we where able to teach kids about Christ and to send 113 of them to school with a new backpack, a pair of clothes, and a whole bunch of books that were needed for them to go to school. We got to go to this huge waterfall and we all got soaked. It was so much fun. I met some really awesome kids in Honduras, like Marvin. The other guys that went on the trip with me were Randy and Garrett. We had lots of fun together. I learned that I should not be as selfish with food because some kids don’t have much. I had a great time in Honduras and I encourage you to go on one of the trips. Trust me, it is fun.
My name is Sarah and I went to Mexico with A Touch of Hope in the fall of 2004. The children I met were really nice and I was glad they have the opportunity to go to a place where they can be safe. One thing I also enjoyed was getting to spend time with my mom and seeing all the historical Mexican landmarks. The pyramid in Cholula was amazing because you could go down a passage way that led to the other side. It was really cramped, but fun because you felt just like Indiana Jones. On this trip, God taught me to depend on Him, even when I wanted to do things on my own. I encourage any of you to consider going on a trip, because it's a chance to step outside of your comfort zone, help someone in need, and see what the rest of the world is doing.
My name is Emily Allred. In February 2009 I got the opportunity to travel across the world to Thailand. I really didnt know what I was getting into, but I knew I was using my love and talents to help in orphanages. When I got there, I realized how fortunate Americans have it. I enjoyed helping the children and making them smile. It touched my life in many different ways. I can now use my experience to tell others and hope it can touch there lives like it did mine.
